Premier Lifeline Confidentiality, Anonymity and Safeguarding Policy

Premier Lifeline is a confidential telephone helpline where your safety and privacy are paramount.

We take your confidentiality very seriously.  We do not have access to your telephone number and will only ask you for a first name (if you are happy to give this). This maintains confidentiality and enables you to remain anonymous.

We want to help you to explore your feelings about your situation and reach the decisions that are right for you. We will ask you questions while listening to you to help you do this, and to make sure we understand what you are telling us.

We want our focus to remain on empowering you to take the right action for yourself and on behalf of others.

We are always concerned about your health and safety and that of others. This in particular applies to safeguarding children and young people, and adults at risk.

As we do not have access to your telephone number and there is no operational reason for our Team to request any of your details we are not in a position to take action on your behalf.

If you are at risk of being hurt by your own actions or by someone else, we will discuss with you the best way to keep yourself safe and empower you to take action.

If you describe a risk to others then we will explore with you the best way to ensure their protection.

If we identify a risk, we will plan with you a course of action to mitigate the risk, and signpost you to the most appropriate agency to help you with your needs.

If, during the call, you start providing us with identifying information, or information that would require us to take action, we will make you aware of this.
